THE USE OF COLOURS IN PROPHETIC DANCING

WEB_Dance_1

“You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,” (Psalm 30:11 NLT)

“Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by tambourine and harp.” (Psalm 149:3 NLT)

“Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes!” (Psalm 150:4 NLT)

The year was 1996 and Lynda Georgeson had a team with her ministering at a worship dance conference in America. During a time in worship and prayer in which the Lord was moving by the power of His Spirit; one of the children came to Lynda and asked if he could take one of the ribbon sets and pin it on the blouse of one of the ladies. Because she sensed it was the Lord’s leading Lynda said “yes”. This was soon followed by another child with a similar request who wanted to lay a coloured cloth on the shoulders of someone and pray for them.

When the time of prayer and worship came to an end, we gathered around to share what the Lord had been saying. Those to whom the children had ministered to with the use of coloured ribbons or cloth had either been healed or set free from some difficulty. For example, the first child to use the ribbons had used the “Victory” set of colours. Without any knowledge of their meaning, the lady shared how she had experienced victory in prayer in an area she had been struggling with for some time. This set of colours was given to a child in our group some years earlier. She had simply seen the colours of red and gold together in a dream and the scripture came to mind from Luke 10:19, “Behold,

I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

The best teacher is the Lord Himself. Colour is one of God’s languages and He can teach us how to understand it if we are open to Him. I would simply suggest praying before reading the Bible and asking Him to guide you. As with learning any language, it takes a time of first hearing it, then understanding it, and then finally being able to use it to communicate with it ourselves. An understanding of God’s use of colour is especially useful to those who minister to others in the worship areas of dance, banners and tambourines and for artists of every kind.

Below is a chart that explains the use of colour in scripture and in dance.

RED Blood of Jesus, Atonement, Sacrifice, God the Son

THE POWER OF PROPHETIC DANCING – Elizabeth Amorim

Dance

And David danced before the Lord with all his might. —2 Samuel 6:14

Michal, David’s wife, did not like his dancing. She scolded him and made light of him. She said he was dancing before the maidens like a lewd fellow, and made out of his dancing as if he were base and low. But he answered, “I was not dancing before men, but the Lord,” showing that he had lost sight of the world and what they thought or said, and was moved and controlled entirely by the Holy Spirit for the Glory of God.

All the great company was blessed but Michal. She was stricken with barrenness till the day of her death. She sinned by making light of the power of God in the holy dance (just as some do today), and attributed it to the flesh or the devil. The critics of God always lose out, and many are in darkness till death.

God did not take Michal’s comments lightly, rather he showed how much he loves a worshipping heart that truly lifts up his holy name with great joy. What happened to Michal is a warning to many of us today, never make light of another person’s worship or their dance, it means much to God.

The news of King David’s great victory—killing the giant Goliath and destroying the great army of the Philistines—spread quickly over the land. When David returned from the slaughter, the women came out of all the cities of Israel to meet the King, singing and dancing with great joy and playing instruments of music. Now notice, in all their cities the women went out in the streets and danced with their music; men are not mentioned—just maidens. Women danced unto the Lord in honor of God, and the king, prompted by the Spirit of God, praised Him in the dance. It took courage for David to honor the King in this way, but the Lord smiled His approval by having it written by holy men of old and passed down to us in His precious Word.

Lord, may I be moved and controlled entirely by Your Spirit, until I lose sight of the world and praise flows from my heart in dancing. Amen.

What is Dance Ministry

First lets define Dance. What is Dance?

Dance is a language and it communicates the expression of many things such as emotions, desires, thoughts, and beliefs through the movement of our bodies.

Websters Dictionary: Dance is a series of motions and steps usually performed to music. It also means to move rhythmically usually to music using prescribed or impoverished steps or gestures.

What is Dance Ministry?

Dance Ministry is simply the process by which we use our gift of dance to carry out the act of ministry (service) to encourage, comfort, and edify the saints in the faith. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes we like to give something a greater spiritual meaning than necessary. This introduces error, confusion, and a host of other problems that the enemy can use to distract and divide us from our sole purpose of winning souls.

Dance is definitely an anointing! It comes from your heart with great passion for it.  The more you dance, the more passionate you become with it because the more the Holy Spirit fills you with desire to dance and worship Jesus. Dance can be extremely special  when you see people are delivered and souls are won for Christ!

A dance is and should never be done to bring attention to yourself or any group of people,  the sole purpose for dance is and should always be to glorify our Lord and Saviour Jesus.
